Award-winning author Michele Chynoweth is excited to share with you how she came to write contemporary novels based on Bible stories, and she will take you along with her on a journey to rediscover God’s Word as it applies to our lives today. Michele believes that many of the Old Testament stories in the Bible are difficult to read, so she re-imagines them in entertaining, fast-paced fiction that will grip you and not let go.
Her Modern Day Bible Stories are full of drama, suspense and romance with characters in whom everyone can see themselves. Michele felt she was just like Job, going through several trials and tribulations, which led her to write her first novel, The Faithful One, in which the main character asks, “Why me?” like we all do when faced with an unexplained hardship or loss. In delving into the Bible story, Michele, like Job, found redemption through by uncovering an unexpected answer to that question and set out to help others through her discovery. The Peace Maker, based on the story of David and his second wife Abigail in the First Book of Samuel is a heartrending story full of courage and love, and The Runaway Prophet, based on the Book of Jonah, reminds us that we can try to run from God’s call but we can’t hide, and in rescuing others, God often rescues us.
Often humorous and poignant, Michele speaks about fulfilling her dream to become a novelist, navigating the pitfalls of the publishing world, the challenges of book marketing and finally, reaping the reward of answering God’s call to write inspirational fiction that helps people find faith and hope in today’s challenging world…and inspires her audience to explore their own dreams and God’s will, plan and purpose in their lives. Like she does in her novels, Michele speaks from the heart, lending the lessons she’s learned from personal experience to her readers and listeners. She also believes there is a story waiting to be told in each of us and has helped many aspiring writers and authors with writing, publishing and marketing their work through her book coaching workshops and services.
Michele is an award-winning member of Toastmasters International and a college professor of fiction writing, publishing and marketing and has spoken to business leaders, church groups, writers associations, book clubs, college classes and more. She is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and prior to becoming a published author, worked as a newspaper and television news reporter, ad agency owner and marketing director. She lives in North East, Maryland with her husband and has a “blended family” of five children.

I wanted to take a moment to thank you for meeting with our book group during the sessions when we discussed The Faithful One and The Peacemaker. Many of the participants have told me that they were fascinated to hear about the process you went through from the initial idea for the books to the publishing. We all enjoyed plot discussion, each other’s different views and, especially, finding out if our ideas were in line with what you intended in your writing. We also really enjoyed learning some of the deeper meaning behind aspects of the stories, such as characters’ names. Thanks again, Michele, and we look forward to your next book! “
